書きかけの文章の題名を再び改め、｢ギョンホとその母｣[仮英訳] Gyungho and his Mother とした(22/12/05)。<無宗教社会>の虚構性について｢中説｣という形を借りて描きたいのだが、なかなか思うように進まない。堂々巡りしている。12月に入り数ヵ月ぶりに母に会う三日前、母だけの伝記を書くことを断念し、題名を変更した。畢竟、自分の生き方が母のそれに重なっている、と気づいた。母に会って構想を説明すると、神妙な表情で聞いていた。
ギョンホについては、日本人に対する韓国語の蔑称 쪽발이、왜놈 をもじって 반쪽발이、반왜놈 (半倭奴) とする。日本人の縮約形 일인 をもじって 반일인 (半日人、半日人) としてもよい。僕の対自認識はこれに近いものだ。
| 無宗教社会などありはしないのに、一九四五年夏以後、日本島に棲む人々は自分たちの社会が科学的で非神話的な社会に生まれ変わったと考えたようだ。それ以前の社会が非科学的で暴力的で狂信的だったとしたわけではないが、その年の八月をもって歴史の断絶を創出し、｢一億総懺悔｣という宗教的な｢場｣を人々のあいだに浸透させた。人々が自ら考えてそうしたわけではない。彼らは長い年月、天皇を現人神として崇め、巧妙な監視体制のもとで考える能力をなくしていたから、このときもまた何者かが巧妙に仕組んだに違いない。天皇は神のまま天上界に隠れることもできたはずだが、何と神を人間界に降臨ならぬ降格させるという奇策をもって元号の連続を図ったのだ。それは人々に少なからぬ混乱と困惑をもたらした。その精神的後遺症のひとつが筆者が<無宗教>と呼ぶ症候群の集団発症だった。この精神疾患ではほとんどの人に自覚症状がない。 |
